Nowlan Park, home to Kilkenny's famed black and amber stripes since the 1930’s. Kilkenny GAA (Cumann Luthchleas Gael, Cill Chainnigh) is the largest sporting organisation in the county. Community based, it organises Hurling, Football, Camogie, Handball and Ladies Football activities for all age groups while providing a comfortable and modern setting for spectators. Location

Nowlan Park is a modern sports stadium located within fifteen minutes walking distance of Kilkenny city and five minutes from the Railway station. It is also close to the ring road, adjacent to the motorway and just an hour from Dublin.

Recent Renovations

Recent renovations have seen Nowlan Park rise to being one of the top stadiums standing in Ireland today. The incredible renovations include clean, modern facilities with the highest level of new technology now available. Nowlan Park is now home to a modern press centre, TV studio, referees room, corporate facilities, reception area while also housing a beautiful hall of fame displaying pictures of past and present teams and many iconic moments.

Capacity 

The stadium has a capacity of 28,000 with 18,000 seats located in Ardán Breathnach (Ollie Walsh Stand), O'Loughlin Road, Ardán De Grás (Paddy Grace Stand), Hebron Road and Ardán O’Cearbhaill (Ted Carroll Stand). In addition, it has a partially covered city end terrace catering for almost 10,000 spectators.

Press and TV Studio, meeting rooms, changing rooms, gym, wheelchair facilities, TV Gantries, shop, toilets and reception area.

Nowlan Park is a renowned international concert venue and has played host to top stars including Andrea Bocelli, Rod Stewart, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Shania Twain, Dolly Parton and Bruce Springsteen.

Achievements

  • Nowlan Park is amongst the twelve stadiums in the country shortlisted in Ireland's bid to host the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
  • Nowlan Park hosted the first live transmission of Gaelic Games on Sky Sports when Kilkenny played Offaly in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship in 2014
