Kilkenny Walking Tours back in full flow for 2014. 31 years guiding visitors around our great city. This enchanting Walking Tour will take you through Kilkenny's Medieval Mile stopping at some of Kilkenny's iconic sites with our guides bringing to life the history and stories of this unique city.
 
To enjoy the real Kilkenny experience take our Walking Tour and hear about the famous Butler family, the great Merchant Families, the Mayor who had 25 children, meet the witch Dame Alice Kyteler, rhymes, taverns, crime, punishments and much more..............

When Tours Take Place

From Mid March to October:

Monday to Saturday at 10.30am, 12.15pm & 3pm
            
Sunday at 11.15am & 12.30pm.

Starting at Kilkenny Tourist Office. (in city centre) 5 mins walk from Castle.

Duration: 70 minutes

The Walking Tour includes the following historical sites:

  • Shee Alms House
  • St. Mary's Monument room
  • Tholsel
  • Butter Slip
  • Kytelers Inn (witches house)
  • Market Slip
  • Courthouse/City Jail
  • Rothe House (outside)
  • City Wall / City Gate
  • Black Abbey
  • St. Canice's Cathedral (outside) and
  • St. Mary's Cathedral.

Private Tours

For June, July and August we can provide 2 to 3 hour  private guided tours for large or small groups at special rates.

The tour would include the Medieval mile from Kilkenny Castle to St. Canice's Cathedral and then exploring the  Continent side of Kilkenny across John's Bridge. A stop off for coffee can also be arranged.

Our guide can also hop on your bus and guide your group through the Medieval City.

We can also come to your hotel and do a talk and slideshow presentation on the history of Kilkenny.

So design a tour to suit your group needs.

Medieval Walking Tour of Kilkenny

New in 2013, the Medieval Kilkenny - Stories through time is an animated walking tour, set against the backdrop of Kilkenny’s medieval architecture, which weaves stories of the history and people of Kilkenny in past times.

From wealthy tradesmen to bishops and witches, Kilkenny has seen it all. The Mayor/Sovereign of the town will guide you to the most intriguing places in the city and give you insights into what life in Kilkenny was really like in past times.

When - Daily at 2pm from mid-June
