"I have always been fascinated by the arts and designs from indigenous cultures of Africa"
Andrew is originally from the USA and majored in Illustration at the Columbus College of art and design, making his big move to Kilkenny in 2003 initially focusing on painting and drawing, however has since concentrated on craftsmanship on ceramics.
Ludick's approach to making is intuitive and organic. Several hand building techniques are used to make the pieces, using white earthenware clay, his pieces evolve through processes of coil building and pinching, which he then hand paints applying patterns and decoration. Andrews main influences are the arts and designs from indigenous cultures of Africa.
Many of his astonishing pieces have featured in successful exhibitions around Ireland, however you will find Andrew and his collection tucked away in an atmospheric studio which he shares with his wife Rosemarie Durr located in Castlecomer Discovery Park, Kilkenny.
