Iverk Show, Piltown, Co. Kilkenny
Iverk Show History Display
To mark the very special occasion and to celebrate 190 years at the Iverk show, we will have a dedicated “Iverk Show History Project Display” for the very first time. Step back in time and browse through fascinating old photographs and reports combined with an alternative vintage section of the show.
Irish Angus Bull Calf Championship
Now in its fourth year and already established as one of the biggest cattle competitions in the country is the Aldi, ABP sponsored Irish Angus Bull Calf Championship. Visit www.iverkshow.ie to complete your entry forms for 2016.
Show Jumping and Racehorse to Riding Horse Final
The show jumping Grand Prix heads an impressive programme of competitions and will be sponsored for the first time by Nissan. The working hunter class has a major face lift thanks to the breeding grant from Horse Sport Ireland.
The Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Racehorse to Riding Horse Ireland 2016 final is a new championship. It brings together many of our favourite race horses from recent years that have now been retrained as riding horses.
Arts and Crafts
The people of Kilkenny are bursting with pride in showcasing their many wonderful talents. From arts and craft to food and beverage lovers, the Iverk show is an opportunity for local craft to display their hard work and for the local community to come and support them. This section of the show gets bigger and bigger every year. The colourful treats and delightful smells coming from the baking displays will certainly have your eyes bigger than your belly.
The flower arranging and Red Mills poultry sections are always worth a visit. The flowers and the vegetables are looking extremely well in the garden - the recent warm weather followed by the rain has been a great plus, meaning this year we are showcasing big onions and giant pumpkins to fascinate our audiences.

5 Reasons to Attend Iverk Show
1. Great Family Day Out
With the end of the summer and school holidays in sight this is the last opportunity for the perfect family day out. There is a lot for all the family – grandparents, parents, children, uncles, aunts and cousins – to see and to do. At the FADO history project you will see and learn how our ancestors lived in 1826.
2. Meet Your Friends
Down through the years the Iverk Show has established a reputation as a great venue for renewing friendships. Visitors come ‘home’ from around the country and from abroad just to say hello and enjoy a cuppa with family and old school friends.
Once again the Show is delighted to be part of the Failte Ireland, IPB Insurance and Local Authorities Ireland Community Tourism Diaspora Initiative. The key objective of the Fund is to provide support to local and community event organisers and activities / projects that will harness Diaspora links for the benefit of local and community tourism. So if you are home from or a visitor from abroad please call in to the information stand and say hello.
3. See the amazing displays.
With up to €80,000 in prize money available to exhibitors, it guarantees that the standard of exhibits in all sections will be excellent. Some of the leading producers of cattle, sheep and horse as well as the best growers of fruit, vegetables and flowers will also be there looking magnificent. The vintage cars and machinery will be shinning, the poultry marquee will be heaving with excitement, and the baking will be mouth watering and the crafts stunning. On display will be a winning tapestry from the 1861 show
4. Great Food.
The Centra food marquee with local food producers is a must to visit with Kells Home Meal one of the local producers. The B of I small business marquee will have something for you all to browse through before going for your lunch.
5. Free parking, children’s play area and all day entertainment.
The good news is that the parking remains free. There will be a special area for disabled parking.
The children’s’ play area with the toy tractors rides is also free. When you have been around the show and want to relax before going home you can sit and listen to music and watch the dancing. Or if you have some energy left shout on your favourite tug-o- war team including a ladies tug for the first time or applause the skills of the Piltown karate club’s demonstration.
So Piltown is the place to be on Saturday the 26th August 2017. See you there.
