The Design Workshops were  established as a visionary state-sponsored design agency was set up following the 1961 Scandinavian Report on Irish design and led to a rich heritage in design skills now synonymous with Kilkenny. All shopped out? Stroll through the National Design & Craft Gallery, Ireland’s leading centre for contemporary craft and design, established by the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland in 2000.
