Kilkenny Tourism is committed to ensuring that our website, and our wider information services, are accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We strive to make our digital and physical visitor materials clear, usable and inclusive.

We are dedicated to providing information in a way that is accessible, understandable and available for all our visitors. When designing, procuring or updating our website and publications, we integrate accessibility as a core consideration.
We aim to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1/2.2 at Level AA or higher, where possible.

2. Measures taken

To support accessibility, we have implemented the following measures:

  • We incorporate accessibility throughout our internal policies and procurement practices.
  • We use standard technologies (such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript) in ways that support assistive devices (screen-readers, keyboard navigation, etc.).
  • We apply consistent heading structure, alternative text for images, descriptive links and sufficient colour contrast.
  • We monitor our site using automated and manual testing to detect accessibility issues.
  • We train our content editors and update our documentation to maintain awareness of accessibility best practice.

3. Conformance status

While we strive for full compliance, some areas of the website or system may not yet meet all accessibility standards. We are actively auditing and improving the site.
At present, our site aims to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance for new content and is undergoing review for legacy pages.
