Callan’s Online Farmers Market – Click & Collect
The NeighbourFood Callan, Callan’s new online farmers market offer an array of different, carefully curated products from brilliant producers. This is one of the best ways to shop, support your local community, while making sure that small producers are given a helping hand during this tough time. Callan NeighbourFood Market is hosted by Fennelly’s of Callan a cosy, independent, cultural coffeehouse which is temporarily closed due to COIVD-19 restrictions. They usually serve cakes, coffee, breakfast, lunch & more using beautiful ingredients sourced from local farms alongside hosting regular Arts, Music, and Cultural events so they are delighted to be able to offer this fantastic online click and collect service with the hope of providing everything online that you would need for your weekly shop. Owner of Fennelly’s Etaoin Holahan said about their first online farmer’s market last week –
“It went so well, we are really delighted to provide this service connecting small producers to customers in a safe relaxed and pleasant environment. We were moved by people’s support, their respect for each other and our systems! All the flowers in our courtyard are in full bloom as if they know people will be glimpsing them! We have a table set up at the entrance of the courtyard inside the double doors where the customer tells us their name and order number (one person from each household, one customer at a time). We place the crate with their order on the table and step back and they fill their bags with all the goodies they ordered! The next customer waits on the kerbside on designated chalk crosses for safe social distancing and steps aside to allow the customer to pass before being beckoned inside the courtyard to the table, where it starts safely all over again! We were really moved by how important this service is to so many people from the producers, to vulnerable customers and also for us! We feel connected to our community again.”
All payments are done online, and in response to Covid-19, they ask that during collection, you practice social distancing, wear masks and gloves, bring your own bags, along with ensuring that if you display any symptoms of the virus to not attend the collection and get a friend to pick up for you. They are operating in accordance with Covid-19 best practice for supermarkets and other food venues that are still open, so will be sanitising regularly, staggering customers, along with ensuring that we operate and handle everything in a safe and hygienic way. Collection is on Fridays from 4pm to 7pm.
Producers include: Stranded Aussie Sourdough and Such, Bramble Cottage Kitchen, Tinnock Farm Produce, The Little Irish Apple Company, Rívesci – Vegetarian And Vegan Dishes, Le Caveau Wine Merchants, Kyle Lodge Farm, Highbank Orchards, The Flowerfield flowers, Peter Byrne Newtown meat boxes.
