When it comes to food the ethos of Anne and the Ryeland House Cookery School has always been one of using locally sourced, great quality ingredients. Much of the food used at Ryeland House is grown on the home farm, our neighbours farms or is produced locally by skilled artisan food makers. All the eggs used in our cooking come from our own free range hens, which guests and students are encouraged to visit during their time at Ryeland.
CakeFace Pastry
Cakeface Patisserie is the brainchild of pastry chef duo Laura & Rory Gannon. Returning home after years working with some of the best pastry teams in France and London, namely The Savoy and Café Royal, Laura & Rory wanted to create their own special brand in Ireland.
Located on the ‘medieval mile’ between St. Canice’s Cathedral and High St., the patisserie offers savoury or sweet options, catering for vegetarians and vegans alike. It offers unique and quirky range of sweet treats and desserts, all handmade by Laura & Rory. A constantly changing lunch menu guarantees fresh and interesting gourmet salads, soups and sambos on sourdough baguettes or artisan loaves. Choose to eat in or take a selection box home. Perfect to take back to work for an afternoon treat.
The Lab is where the magic happens, located two doors down from the patisserie. The Lab is where Laura and Rory are constantly developing and improving their range of desserts, pastries and other goodies. Feel free to peak in our windows to see what’s cookin’. We are fanatical about coffee. Constantly sourcing speciality coffee roasters to partner with to make sure that each cup brewed is an exceptional experience. We always have two different beans on giving you a choice to suit your taste. If you are unsure what your taste is our talented barista team are happy to advise.
Our cookery school is a state of the art contemporary spaced designed to inspire the ‘Wille Wonka’ in us all. Classes are hands-on and relaxed but expect to be challenged whatever your level. Perfect for a special birthday, hens or stags, family gathering, corporate team building or staff day or night out, we can build an event that suits your team.
Croan Cottages Kilkenny
Set on the ground of an eighteenth century Irish Manor House, Croan Cottages are 5 recently built, traditional style cottages offering self catering accommodation in Kilkenny. These are available to to guests for full week, weekend or midweek breaks throughout the year. Croan Cottages are fully furnished to an exceptionally high standard and include three bedroom and two bedroom spacious detached holiday cottages. Each holiday home has an open fire, a private furnished patio and barbeque area. The cottages are set around a charming courtyard, surrounded by beautifully mature Lime trees, with a duck pond, boules court and games area close by. Visitors will appreciate the extreme comfort, relaxing nature and high end facilities Croan Cottages has to offer. Relax and enjoy splendid surroundings with Castle Morres demesne just next door, an impressive forest park of almost 2,000 acres, walled gardens and Orchards providing plenty of fresh produce for guests to enjoy during their stay. All of the cottages are designated as 'No Smoking'. Smoking is permittted outside. Pets are permitted to stay with their owners in some of the cottages.
