Lydia Smith Ceramics

Enjoy a hands-on pottery session with Lydia Smith in her working Kilkenny studio. Originally from London and with a background in fashion design, Lydia brings colour, shape and thoughtful detail to her ceramics, creating a joyful space for visitors to explore clay for themselves.

In this pottery experience, you will meet Lydia, learn how her pieces come to life and try your hand at making your own ceramic work. Depending on the session, you may work on the pottery wheel, explore hand-building techniques or move between both, with guidance from Lydia throughout.

The studio is fully equipped, welcoming and filled with works in progress and finished pieces available to browse. Each participant has access to clay, tools, an apron and their own pottery wheel during the session. Lydia’s teaching style is warm and encouraging, helping visitors understand the making process while enjoying the simple pleasure of working with clay.

Your completed pot will be ready within a month, with collection or postage available by arrangement. This is a joyful and memorable way to connect with Kilkenny’s long ceramic tradition.
