In Stories in Stone: A Kilkenny Craft Experience, you will learn how stone is shaped by hand using traditional tools and techniques passed down through generations. Martin shares stories of Kilkenny’s quarries, the craftspeople who worked them and the sayings, folklore and mythology connected to the stone trade.

This is a warm, reflective and hands-on experience, offering visitors time to slow down and connect with a material that has shaped Kilkenny’s buildings, landscapes and local identity. You will explore slate, limestone and flagstone, see a stonecraft demonstration and gain an insight into the culture of stone past and present.
