Barefoot Dance Masked Samhain Ball

Barefoot Dance Masked Samhain Ball

Barefoot dance is a monthly Immersive Ecstatic Dance in Thomastown- a freestyle dance wave inspired by the 5 rhythms of Gabrielle Roth.

The October Samhain edition of our Barefoot dance includes elements of Irish Folklore, Chekhov technique using imagination to dance a character, and then a freestyle dance with contemporary world dance wave and live percussion.

Dressing up at Samhain (Halloween) has long been a tradition in Ireland- why should kids get all the fun?! People historically dressed up as Pucas to scare away ghosts! There is a lot of power in the mask- and a lot of powerful figures in Irish myth, from the magical gods of the Tuatha de Danán (who became the ‘fairies,’) to the Cailleach (witch).

Ticket holders will receive profiles of characters from Irish/ Celtic Mythology before the event to choose for Masque creation- Masquerading is optional, fun and freedom are the focus!

This is a ‘Be here now’ event, as such we hope to create community, connectivity and magic, as well as a space for people who may wish to try having a good time socially in a ‘ sober ’ space- ie no drugs, alcohol or mobile phones! As such, we’d request people to have taken no drink or recreational drugs on the day of the event. Footwear, however, is also optional!!

Light healthy snacks and drinks will be available.
