Kilkenny is home to some of the best festivals in the world, from mega music events and epic live performances to extraordinary stand up shows, with a schedule that’s ever growing and always changing but for now we must STOP and stay safe.

The safety of visitors to Kilkenny is of the utmost importance to us. Kilkenny Tourism are following the advice from government officials for the reopening of Tourism sectors in the county. Below you can see some of the many festivals that will return to Kilkenny bigger and better than ever before in a new world of social distancing.

Kilkenny-based animation studio, Cartoon Saloon, hosted the first ever Kilkenny Animated Festival in 2018 and it was such an incredible success that Kilkenny Animated returns now at Autumn 2019! Kilkenny has become the animation capital of Ireland with the success of local company Cartoon Saloon’s films The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea , The Breadwinner and now with a fourth  academy Award nomination for the Best Animated Short Category with  Louise Bagnall’s short film Late Afternoon.
Kilkenny Animated is a festival of visual storytelling incorporating cartoons, animation and illustration in a series of exhibitions, talks, performances and workshops. programme of workshops, talks and slideshows from some of the world’s greatest character designers, illustrators, animators and cartoonists. Exhibitions, comedy nights, previews and installations – this is a treasure chest for animators and fans alike.
