Kilkenny GAA

Hurling is Ireland’s national sport. An amateur game, clubs from all over Kilkenny compete for the coveted county championships.

The senior hurling championship is the pinnacle of the hurling year, deciding the best club team in Kilkenny.

This year’s final features All Ireland Club Champions Ballyhale Shamrocks and James Stephens ( The Village) from Kilkenny City. Some of hurling’s brightest stars, including TJ Reid and Colin Fennelly of Ballyhale and Jackie Tyrrell and Eoin Larkin of the Village, will be joined by younger emerging stars of club and county hurling. These clubs meet for the first time in a senior final since 2011, when James Stephens emerged as champions following a thrilling draw and a replay.

The senior final will be preceded by the Intermediate Final between Tullaroan and Thomastown, who will compete not only for the intermediate championship but for the right to qualify as a senior club in 2020.
