The Kilkenny Witch Trials: A Community Art Project

Thursday 29th & Friday 30th October, 2pm-5pm, Drop In, All Welcome.
Step inside St Canice’s Cathedral this Halloween and become part of a unique, large-scale community artwork inspired by the dramatic story of the 1324 Kilkenny Witch Trials.
Over two days, Kilkenny-based artist Graham Carew will work with members of the public to create a striking three-panel artwork telling the story of Bishop Richard Ledrede, Alice Kyteler and Petronella de Meath.
Drawing inspiration from the traditional triptychs and artworks found within cathedrals, the event will combine storytelling, painting and creative participation. No previous artistic experience is needed, simply come along, hear the story and help create a piece of artwork that brings this fascinating chapter of Kilkenny’s medieval history to life.
The completed artwork will remain on display in St Canice’s Cathedral for the remainder of the Halloween programme, allowing visitors to see the finished work and discover the story behind it.
Come along, pick up a brush and help paint Kilkenny’s history.
