Exhibition: When Worlds Collide by Mollie Douthit at Butler Gallery

Butler Gallery is very pleased to present When Worlds Collide, a solo exhibition of recent work by the Irish-based, USA born artist, Mollie Douthit. Mollie Douthit explores ideas of intimacy, domesticity and memory in her work. Her paintings celebrate everyday moments and personal experiences where her singular sense of humour prevails. Her paintings of interiors are representations of the sensory and remembered qualities of space and objects sourced from the visual filing cabinet of her mind.

In celebration of International Women’s Day Butler Gallery is very pleased to present the work of artists Philippa Bayliss, Margaret Becker, Caroline Couchman and Maria Levinge. We are delighted to recognise the achievements of these four artists by showcasing their work in two of our Collection Galleries. The artists, all based in the South East of the country, were introduced to Butler Gallery by John Kirwan who has had longstanding relationships with these artists, selling their work from The Mermaid Gallery in Inistioge.

A Ukrainian version of the animated feature, Puffin Rock and The New Friends is produced by the Academy Award-nominated Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon and Northern Ireland’s Dog Ears. The Puffin Rock and the New Friends Ukrainian version is available for educational and non commercial use across Ireland and Europe.The Screen Ireland supported film provided a unique opportunity to collaborate and connect with the Ukrainian community in Ireland and across Europe. The Ukrainian version of Puffin Rock and The New Friends is entirely voiced by Ukrainian nationals that have relocated to Ireland.

Join us for a special 'Landscapes in Bloom' Sip n' Sketch workshop on Thursday 28th March from 5.45 – 7.45pm and explore your inner creativity in a fun and informal art workshop accompanied by a glass of prosecco, wine or soft drink.

This Spring themed workshop will take inspiration from Landscape by May Guinness (part of our permanent collection) and William Wordsworth's lyric poem "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" (also called "Daffodils").

Under the guidance of Artist Rachel Burke, participants will paint their own spring landscape using mixed media - acrylic paints, acrylic inks, watercolours and drawing materials.

No experience is necessary. All materials will be provided.

The annual Lingaun Valley Car Treasure Hunt takes place on Easter Monday 1st of April. This years route takes in Carrick-on-Suir, Piltown and Owning.

Cars go out from 2pm to 3pm and you can choose your starting place of the Library Car Park in Carrick-on-Suir or the The Marian Hall in Owning.

The event has become a great family fun day over the years with great prizes to be won. The entry Fee is €20 per car with refreshments a raffle and the announcement of the winners afterwards in the Marian Hall.
