Kilkenny City Centre to become One-Way to aid social distancing with effect from Monday, 22nd June.
As we welcome the public and visitors back to Kilkenny, a temporary One-Way system is one of a number of measures being introduced for Kilkenny City Centre in order to facilitate adherence to public health requirements on social distancing as we move through the phases of re-opening for business.
This measure is to ensure that people can safely and easily visit Kilkenny City and will provide additional space to pedestrians in line with social distancing regulations.
In recent weeks, the Council have been working with the City Centre Task Force on this proposal and have received broad agreement from the businesses that this measure will help to boost the recovery of Kilkenny City Centre.
In addition, the following is a summary of measures which will be put in place from Monday, 22nd June:
- Pedestrianisation hours of Kieran Street will be extended from 9.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m., each day including weekends.
- Pedestrianisation of James’s Street from entrance of Market Cross Carpark to High Street from 9.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. each day including weekends, will be put in place.
- Planned One-Way system for Ormonde Street is being implemented in advance of planned works on Ormonde Street.
