National Design and Craft Gallery

The National Design & Craft Gallery is Ireland’s leading centre for contemporary craft and design. They have many exhibitions, events and education programmes. They play a critical role in building an understanding of craft and material culture in Ireland.  It exhibits Irish and international designers, artists and makers who push boundaries in their engagement with the making process. It inspires appreciation, creativity and innovation through its exhibition and education programmes. Not only this, The National Design and Craft Gallery of Ireland also shares these historic buildings with Kilkenny Design Centre below. Admission is free into the gallery, it is well worth a visit!

Sunday + Bank Holidays 11am – 5.30pm

Perhaps one of the most special retail experiences you will have in Kilkenny, The Design Centre can be found in the old stables of  Kilkenny Castle which is located just across the road.

The design centre features an impressive range of Irish craft from some of Ireland’s best known and exceptional craftspeople and designers.

All things brilliant in Irish craft from Jewellery, Knitwear, Celtic Gifts, China and Crystal, Pottery and Glass, Home and Fashion Accessories and stunning one off contemporary design pieces can be found here.

Kilkenny Design Centre is also home to the award winning ‘Anocht’ restaurant.

Visitors from outside of the EU can avail of highly attractive tax free shopping.
