Billy Byrnes
Billy Byrnes is one of Kilkenny’s most famous public houses and a firm favourite with locals. In fact, it’s more of a social club than it is a bar. A wide range of craft beers and spirits from both Kilkenny and further afield is served in a relaxed atmosphere.
There’s also a wide range of entertainment during the week with Taco Tuesdays, Movie Night on Wednesdays, Sofa Sessions on Thursdays, Kickback Fridays, Big Night Out on Saturdays and Family Brunch on Sundays.
The City and County are known nationwide for superb craft beer brewers and distillers. Be sure to sample a local beverage like Highbank Orchards or a stiff gin from Ballykeefe Distillery.
O'Hara's Brewery Corner
O’Hara’s Brewery Corner is Kilkenny’s first dedicated craft beer pub and Ireland’s only pub to serve exclusively Irish craft beer on tap. You’ll currently find 13 taps always pouring the full O’Hara’s beer range plus guest Irish craft beers and ciders.
The Brewery Corner has live music from local artists and regular appearances by cutting edge music producers and DJs. Spot some emerging talent or take to the stage yourself at the open-mic nights. You never know what you’ll discover from local performing artists to themed DJ sets like Mellow Mondays and Sunday’s Soul Supper. Oh, and they serve actual food too!
The Left Bank
The Left Bank is a renovated Bank of Ireland branch, a stone’s throw from Kilkenny Castle. It’s imposing location, right on the busy junction of the Parade and High Street, makes it a great spot for people-watching. With six different areas – the Main Bar, LB2, the Cocktail Bar, VIP Red Room, the Snug and Louie’s Backyard, which is their covered and heated smoking area – you’d have to be pretty picky not to find a suitable perch for the night.
It’s great place to catch a match with plasma screens located in both the bar and smoking area.
