Horseracing at Gowran Park racecourse Kilkenny
This picturesque track in County Kilkenny has developed into one of Ireland’s premier race tracks. Gowran Park hosts 17 race meetings throughout the year featuring both national hunt and flat race meetings.
The racing season at Gowran Park has quality fixtures spread evenly throughout the year starting with the Goffs Thyestes Handicap Chase in January. This is the biggest day in the south east’s racing calendar and has become known as “the Race That Stops a County”. February brings the Red Mills Trial which is often used as a prep run for the Cheltenham Festival.
Gowran Park is located 12 kilometres from Kilkenny city and just off the M9 so it’s very easy to access. For all race meetings, there are complimentary buses from the Parade in Kilkenny and there is ample parking just beside the track.
