Highbank Orchards are thrilled to launch their new Fortified Apple Wine for you to enjoy at your table this Christmas. Grown and bottled in Kilkenny, serve this wine chilled with your favourite cheese, dessert or in a cocktail.
The Story
Elsie Iago’s gift to her daughter Gypsy Calder-Potts when she returned with her young family to her ancestral home, Highbank Organic Orchards in Kilkenny, Ireland, was a barrel of her apple wine.
This was fondly referred to as ‘Granny’s Wine’. Gypsy would send one of her four boys to fetch a carafe of the wine, which was kept in the cool stables. for an after-dinner tipple.
The apple never falls far from the tree. Today Rod Calder-Potts, one of Gypsy’s sons, has perfected his ‘Granny’s Wine’ recipe.
