Kilkenny Catwalk Art Trail – Last Chance to Visit!

This April is the last chance to explore The Kilkenny Catwalk, a fantastic arts trail of 21 wonderful Kilkenny Cat sculptures which have been decorated by some of Ireland’s most talented artists. Visitors are invited to follow the trail on the official Kilkenny Catwalk Trail App and find sculptures that are located in Kilkenny’s beautiful public spaces, many of which are attached to the heritage buildings around the city.

Nore Valley Park

Set in Bennettsbridge, County Kilkenny, Nore Valley Park is a family-run camping and caravan park as well as an activity centre and open farm with a variety of animals. Mobile homes and Lodges are available for rental. For children who adore animals, Nore Valley Park offers families an opportunity to bottle feed the baby lambs, or handle a small rabbit. Picnics are encouraged and a small on-site shop offers coffee and tea and home baked treats.

Easter Egg Hunt

The annual Nore Valley Park Easter Egg Hunt Easter Egg Hunt will take place for day visitors to the farm between Saturday 9th and Saturday 16th April 2022 (except for Sunday when the farm is closed). Residents staying on site will have exclusive access to the Easter Egg Hunt. Egg Hunt sheets need to be purchased for all children taking part in the egg hunt.

Medieval Mile Museum

No visit to Kilkenny is complete without a trip to the Medieval Mile Museum  in the converted St. Mary’s Church. Situated in the centre of the city and of the Mile, this is a wonderful place for families and group tours to experience life centuries ago in the city. Entry to the Museum by means of an ‘Interactive Audio Tour’ is €8.50 per adult, €3.50 per child, and the museum also hosts temporary exhibitions and events.

Easter Break LEGO Brick Family Workshop

The LEGO® Brick Family Workshop is a fun, creative learning experience for families with children aged between 7 and 13 years, using LEGO® bricks to build and create as a team. Each family group, or “team”, can contain up to four people but must have a minimum of at least one adult and one child. Along the way, families experience the joys, challenges and rewards of playing together. Prizes are awarded to the “winners” of each exercise but no team goes home empty-handed!

Cooking Class with Cake Face Cookery School

Cooking Class with Cakeface Cookery School
For ‘budding’ bakers from age 11yrs- 17yrs, Cakeface Cookery School will test their baking skills and get them to learn some new ones at this ‘hands on’ class which takes place on Tuesday 12th April. There are also classes for kids aged 5 to 10 years on April 13th and 21st. For the adults, there is a full day class where you will learn the art of cooking delicious pastries, tarts and macarons. Located in Irishtown on the Medieval Mile in Kilkenny’s centre, Cakeface cookery school is a state of the art contemporary spaced designed to inspire the ‘Wille Wonka’ in us all. Classes are hands ON and relaxed but expect to be challenged whatever your level.

Easter is a great time to get outdoors and explore the many gardens and parklands across Kilkenny. For the adrenalin junkies  Castlecomer Discovery Park is the ideal location for fun and challenging activities like zip-lines, tree top walks and archery and so much more.
