SPRING
As the plants come into bloom during the spring, so does Kilkenny. Our beautiful gardens and park spaces burst into life and the open farms are abuzz with the energetic new arrivals that the season brings. Heritage sites begin to reopen to tell the fascinating tales from hundreds of years ago that live between the stone walls. Popular attractions throw open their doors to welcome visitors for unforgettable experiences, while the theatre programmes are packed with live drama, music and comedy performances to wow crowds.
And St. Patrick’s Day is not just a day of celebrations on the 17th March – in Kilkenny, it is a multi-day affair! Kilkenny Tradfest gets toes tapping to traditional Irish music in pubs across the city in the days leading up to the bank holiday, while the St. Patrick’s Festival Kilkenny programme runs concurrently taking Irish culture to the cobbled streets. As well as the all-important parade, the festivities include carnival rides, a pop-up Gaeltacht and a band stand with talented local musicians to keep the party going!
