At Trail Kilkenny they have a variety of activity trails suitable for all the family whatever the season. From Walking & Cycling to Food; Craft and Activity Trails, what better way to get outdoors and explore your wonderful surroundings. Not only that, our trails also give you the opportunity to indulge in some of the most amazing local produce from the autumn harvest in our food trails.

Walking Trails

All the walks on our trails are free of charge and take place in areas of local heritage and natural history interest, taking walkers alongside rivers and canals as well as through towns and villages. The walks are of varying lengths and gradient, from the ‘easier’ routes like Castlecomer Loop & City Walks to the more difficult Brandon Hill Loop, all offering something for everyone no matter what their interests or abilities.

Adventure

For the more adventurous, a carpet of leaves won’t stop you visiting one of our activity trails. Kilkenny Cycling Tours offer guided bike rides that traverse the medieval city. If it’s waves you’re after, Go with the Flow will have you kayaking or canoeing on some of the county’s most scenic rivers. For the kids, there is Castlecomer Discovery Park which is host to Ireland’s longest zip line or get close and personal with some animals at Nore Valley Park.

For the foodies and craft lovers, the Food & Craft trail offers a showcase of Kilkenny’s best food producers and artisans. From watching the intricacy of glass blowing at Jerpoint Glass to checking out the Autumn apple harvest at Highbank Orchard or a visit to Goatsbridge Trout; our food and craft trails are an experience of how ‘local’ produce can be nurtured and created into something unique!

Cycling

Autumn can be a wonderful time for cycling, the weather is still relatively dry and warm enough to venture out on any of our four cycling routes – we have a North; South; East and West Cycling routes, so no matter where you are in the county, you are bound to find one close by.
