Sing Street

In 1980s recession mired Dublin, 15 year old Conor is forced to move from his comfortable private school to the rough and tumble Synge Street run by the Christian Brothers. Trying to navigate school bullies, a tyrannical principal, and his parents constant fighting, he finds solace in the beautiful, mysterious, Raphina. In an attempt to impress her he enlists some local misfits and together they start a band. Inspired and advised in the ways of the world by his wise, mostly stoned older brother (Jack Reynor), Conor finds his voice.

With humorous nods to The Commitments and plenty of 80s nostalgia, John Carney’s third feature is a charming, sweet natured love story about how music can save your life.
