Aquarium worker Abel is furious when he learns his mother Sylvie is marrying a recently paroled inmate named Michel. Abel is determined to protect his mother, and is deeply suspicious about his new stepfather. He ropes in his friend Clemence to help spy on the newly-released Michel. They discover Michel is indeed still involved in crime, but before long they become embroiled in his plan to pull off ‘one last heist’ – a risky effort to steal a truckful of imported caviar.

Following last year’s incredible concert performance at The Sondheim Festival, we are absolutely thrilled to announce that Tony Award® nominee and Emmy winner Liz Callaway will deliver a Performance Masterclass at this year’s Festival, exploring the songs of Sondheim’s female-identifying characters.
Our Hedgerows, woodlands, fields and gardens are bursting with the warm rich colours of Autumn. This one day course will provide tools in investigative drawing and painting. A multi-sensory approach will create a dynamic course, in which the participant will experiment with observation, mark-making and colour exploration.
This Performance Masterclass will be delivered by West End star Paul Monaghan, exploring the songs of Sondheim’s female-identifying characters.
Paul first worked with Stephen Sondheim in 1998 while rehearsing the original production of Hey Mr. Producer in London and enjoyed a long-distance friendship with him that lasted until his sad passing in 2021. He worked with him again while doing a rehearsed reading of the last musical Sondheim wrote, Bounce – which subsequently became Road Show.
Can you get your tongue to twist the Cockney accent for Sweeney Todd? Or the complexity of Assassin, Leon Czolgosz? What does it take to create an accent for a character? This workshop will explore the key features of some of the most important accents for musical theatre & the work of Sondheim, breaking them down to see what makes them different. Participants will be given lots of practical tips and techniques for changing accents and applying them to character work.

Cork cellist Sinead O’Halloran’s remarkable Marmen Quartet returns for a second tour for the National String Quartet Foundation. Their performances of Haydn’s quartets are becoming legendary and they start with his D major Quartet Op. 33 No. 6. Ireland’s tribute band to the living legend Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Glory Days have been touring Ireland for a number of years selling out theatres and venues from Kerry to Belfast, Cork to Coleraine and Galway to Dublin, as well as playing to thousands at festivals. Cellist-composer Ailbhe McDonagh presents her newly commissioned second string quartet on this tour by the Ficino Quartet. Osvaldo Golijov’s hauntingly beautiful Tenebrae reflects both the brutality of human conflict and the parallel perspective of the earth’s serene progress through space. Shostakovich’s short and enigmatic seventh quartet was dedicated to his first wife who had died six years earlier and the concert ends with Brahms’ glorious masterpiece, his A minor quartet Op. 51 No. 2.
