Kilkenny is the place to be this March bank holiday weekend!

The annual St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, which has now spread to a multi-day event, will take over Kilkenny city from 15th – 18th March 2024. With Kilkenny Tradfest running alongside St. Patrick’s Festival Kilkenny, the atmosphere is sure to be electric.

Building on the success of the last few years the self-titled ‘Big Festival in a Small City’, St. Patrick’s Festival Kilkenny features its biggest programme ever in 2024! The festival will feature 4 visiting American marching bands, street theatre, family shows, carnival rides, the festival market, live music, walking tours, fire shows and lots more.

The centre of the St. Patrick’s Festival is the Kilkenny City St. Patrick’s Day Parade and this year’s theme is ‘Kilkenny Cats: Tales and Legends’. With history and stories from witches and cats to Tudors and castles and present day legends in sports stars, musicians, artists and community leaders. Don’t miss the parade taking place on Sunday 17th March at 1:30pm.

2024 marks the eleventh year of the festival and it promises to be the best yet, with a line-up packed full of both trad legends and new talent. The headline acts who will grace the city’s stages on St. Patrick’s weekend this year include Hothouse Flowers, John Spillane, Iarla Ó Lionáird, Pádraig Jack, Buíoch, Breaking Trad and Clare Sands.

This year’s Bulmers Music Trail boasts an incredible 90+ free gigs in venues across the city. So whether you fancy tapping your toe with a pint in hand or giving a jig your best shot with mates, you will find a spot that fits your vibe in one of the 30 venues.
